OpenID explained: In very simple terms
Wednesday, December 20th, 2006When I first heard about OpenID several months ago, I took the time to dig up whatever I can about the system. However, I was inundated with lengthy, jargon-filled articles about the subject. It came at a bad time for me because I was working on two projects and I did not have the time to wade through all that stuff. The Internet has shortened my attention span when it comes to reading (but apparently not writing :D) so I looked for a shorter, to the point explanation with examples. I could not find one at the time and the existing implementations were either in beta or very buggy.
Recently, one guy has taken the time to explain OpenID in very simple terms. It also contains an example on how to use it to turn your blog or website into an OpenID URL. I have already tried it (see the HTML source for this page) and it “just works”. I really hope that this system becomes ubiquitous enough someday. Now, time to try my new OpenID out elsewhere…
