Most of my work involves software development with PHP4, PHP5, and Django:

• Mozilla Firefox Ubuntu/Fedora Package
• Gnu Emacs
• Darcs or Mercurial for version control

For C and C++ programming, I use the Eclipse CDT with the Ubuntu/Fedora packaged GCC. Though it has its own build system, it never seems to suit my requirements so for that I turn to SCons. For Java development, I use Netbeans. And for everything else, I use Gnu Emacs or Vim.

For Windows C or C++ programming I use MinGW and MSYS for compiling and InnoSetup for creating installers. Builds are done with SCons running under ActivePython, this allows me to take the build scripts and use them between Linux and Windows builds.

¹ During a recent thunderstorm, my old setup got fried when lightning hit one of the power poles in my neighborhood. Lost my phone line for a couple of days. Managed to salvage what was left of my original rig, motherboard was all shot to hell taking two memory sticks with it. Luckily, my month-old LCD screen was not damaged.
